JULIE SIMPSON

Julie Simpson could best be described as a person who straddles many worlds, always with an eye trained on generating and recognizing beauty. She is a collector of mid-century art and design, especially fine European jewelry from the 1960’s and 70’s.  The emphasis of her jewelry collection is jewelry designed by established full-time fine artists and jewelry designed by goldsmiths and jewelers with a non-traditional vision.

Julie was raised in the California Bay Area and still maintains close ties there.  She was just designated a Lifetime Trustee of the U.C. Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive [BAMPFA] and after years of service, an Honorary Trustee of Alice Waters’ The Edible Schoolyard Project [ESYP].

She spent her 20’s teaching design in Nagoya, Japan and then working for Sotheby’s London and New York auction houses in the Japanese Art and 20th Century Decorative Arts Departments.

Julie has a B.A. in design (1986) from UCLA, and an M.B.A. (1994) from NYU.  She spent her 30’s as “Girl-for-Hire,” a qualitative research and strategic planning consultant for the wine, fashion, and technology sectors.

In 2010 Julie earned a degree in nutrition from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition [IIN] accredited with State University of New York [SUNY] and spent her 40’s working as a nutrition counselor, and sometime raw food guru in Venice, California.  She is currently developing a new platform in this arena for women on the verge of menopause or deep in it.

Julie resides in New York City.
