ASA NorCal is a multidisciplinary chapter bringing together appraisal professionals across business valuation, personal property, real property, machinery and technical specialties, and allied fields.

Micheal B. Dianich, Jr., ASA currently appraises machinery and equipment, primarily for asset-based lending applications. He has been with Gordon Brothers for 20 years and began his appraisal career valuing industrial and wholesale inventories, also for asset-based lending applications.
He holds an undergraduate degree in finance from Kennesaw State University. Mr. Dianich received his senior accredited member designation with the American Society of Appraisers in 2012 and joined the NorCal Board in 2021. Although an inventory appraiser for most of his appraisal career, he has a Machinery & Technical Specialties, Machinery and Equipment designation. He began his appraisal career in Chicago and has lived in San Francisco for the past five years.

Gabrielle Selz, ASA is the founder and principal of Selz Fine Art Appraisers . With more than 30 years of experience in the visual arts, she brings specialized expertise in Postwar, Contemporary, and Emerging Art, as well as Impressionist & Modern Art, American Art, Photography, and Prints.
She has prepared estate tax appraisal reports for significant and high value collections and has conducted charitable contribution appraisals for donations to institutions such as the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Cantor Center for the Visual Arts, the Phillips Collection, and the American University Museum in Washington, D.C., among many others. As an art historian and writer, she is the author of two award-winning nonfiction books on the art world, UnStill Life: Art and Love in the Age of Abstraction and Light on Fire: The Art and Life of Sam Francis .

Rick Perez brings over 25 years of experience in the arts, including more than 15 years at fine art galleries across the United States. As an art advisor, he has assisted private collectors and corporate clients in building contemporary art collections, acquiring works through galleries, art fairs, and direct engagement with artists, as well as through secondary-market purchases via auctions and private dealers.
As a fine art appraiser, Rick provides valuations for insurance, charitable donation, and resale purposes, working with both individual artworks and extensive collections. His expertise is grounded in years of experience with photography and works on paper, complemented by a strong knowledge of contemporary painting and sculpture.

Lily Yu is the founder and principal of AGENT ART , an art advisory and appraisal firm providing over 25 years of expertise to clients nationwide from California to New York.
Lily specializes in 20th-century and contemporary paintings, drawings, sculpture, and prints. Her multifaceted career as an artist, teacher, gallery owner, dealer, gallery director, advisor, and appraiser distinguishes her within the profession. She brings first-hand knowledge of the art market and its dynamics, along with extensive expertise in art history, artists’ materials, and creative processes.
Lily has served on the ASA NorCal Board since 2022, including one year as Scribe and two years as Secretary. In 2024, she was honored with the Chapter Member of the Year Award. She has also contributed her expertise to multiple advisory boards and fundraising committees for charitable organizations.

Kalim Winata is a USPAP-compliant Asian art appraiser, advisor, and curator whose passion for Asian art began in his childhood in Hong Kong. He advises clients on valuations, collection development, and cataloging. His curatorial credits include exhibitions such as China Modern at the Pacific Asia Museum and Made in China at the SFO Museum. He is the author of Made in India and Made in China and has contributed to major visual projects at Disney, Sony, and DreamWorks.

Jia Wu, ASA, ABV is a Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) Manager at Xylinx, LLC and a business and intangible asset valuation expert with over a decade of experience across financial reporting, tax, transactions, and litigation. She has valued businesses and intangibles under U.S. GAAP and IFRS for M&A, goodwill impairment, and IP matters, and she now applies that depth to transaction advisory work, including quality of earnings and due diligence.
Jia founded Monument Valuations in 2023 and previously held valuation roles at JSI, Marshall & Stevens, SingerLewak, and Globalview Advisors. She also supported LegalZoom through its IPO.
She is Business Valuation Chair of the American Society of Appraisers’ Northern California chapter, which was named ASA Chapter of the Year in 2025, and a 2026 ASA Rising Stars Award recipient. Jia holds a BS in Finance, Real Estate, and Law from Cal Poly Pomona, the ASA designation, and the AICPA’s ABV credential. She is a frequent moderator on valuation topics at industry events and continuing education programs.

Kevin Mawhinney, ASA serves as a Helicopter Program Manager at Jet Support Services, Inc., based near San Francisco, California. Mawhinney provides technical and logistics assistance to JSSI’s diverse fleet of clients around the world, specifically for helicopter airframe and engine maintenance requirements. His aviation career spans more than 30 years, beginning as a mechanic and crewman with the U.S. Coast Guard.

After ten years in banking, Dana W. Burwell, MAI, ASA switched careers to real estate appraising. His appraisal career started in San Francisco with Chuck Bailey and Charles D. Bailey & Associates, where he focused on appraising senior housing projects throughout the state.
His current focus is on appraising a wide range of properties in the North Bay, including large ranches, wineries, vineyards, conservation easements, BLM land, and residential development sites for low income housing entities. Dana enjoys ASA’s multidisciplinary membership and the wide variety of appraisal assignments colleagues discuss and teach on.

Louise Allrich, ASA specializes in appraisals of contemporary and modern fine art, public art, photography, and contemporary craft art. She has been active in the art world for over 40 years, owned an internationally recognized fine art gallery in San Francisco for 25 years, and has worked as a fine art advisor nationally and internationally. She currently serves on the American Society of Appraisers National Personal Property Board.

Jotham King has more than 14 years of experience in the auction industry, working with a wide range of machinery, equipment, and other business assets. His background includes asset research, auction project management, client advisory, and the marketing and sale of machinery and equipment.
He is currently an Appraisal Trainee specializing in machinery and equipment, with experience conducting asset inspections, researching market data, and appraisal reporingt. Jotham is a Candidate Member of the American Society of Appraisers and serves as Marketing Chair for the ASA Northern California Chapter.

An accredited ASA member since 1980, Fran has an M.A. in Art History and specializes in fine art, decorative arts, antiques, and related specialties. She has served the NorCal chapter as a two-term President and continues as an advisor and board member. Fran has also served ASA nationally as President and member of the ASA International Personal Property Committee and as Chancellor of the College of Fellows.

Bharat Kanodia, ASA
Bharat Kanodia, ASA leads private equity and venture valuations and helps valuation firms optimize their international operations. He has worked with Ipreo, American Appraisal, Veristrat, and Silicon Valley Bank Analytic, where he valued real estate, industrial, personal property, and financial assets.
He holds an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Business Administration from Marquette University. Mr. Kanodia is a senior accredited member with the American Society of Appraisers.
